James 1:27 “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.”
Mission Statement: (un)adopted exists to provide a hope and a future for orphans around the world by facilitating a safe environment to disciple and equip children in need.
Throughout the world there are more than 153 million orphans. Once these children reach a certain age (around 16yrs old) they are released from the institution to make it on their own without any aid. Most cannot make themselves a meal, much less a dignified living. In reality, most unadopted children become trapped in a lifestyle of sexual exploitation, drug abuse and slavery. By no fault of their own, these teens soon find themselves subject to a life they could have never imagined – a life in which they are completely unprepared to make it alone.
Why We Exist?
(Un)adopted exists to make a difference. As a ministry of Lifeline Children’s Services, we are uniquely positioned to initiate effective change. The call to rescue the orphan in distress can not be fulfilled through adoption alone. The leadership of Lifeline became burdened with the circumstances of those children who have been left behind and are subjected to a life they can’t control. Seeking to cast a greater vision for orphan care than just adoption, (un)adopted was created to care for orphans across the world in a wide variety of ways.
The Heart of What We Do:
We are not the rescuers but the rescued. “For God, being so very rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, He made us alive together with Christ-by grace you have been saved” (Eph 2:4-5). When we realize that we ourselves are the (un)adopted and that God has richly adopted us into his family, it is then that we begin to respond with grace, love, and mercy to those around us. It is out of this response to the grace of God in the person of Christ that (un)adopted was born. The gospel is at the heart of what we do and is the foundation of the ministry of Lifeline.
Proclaiming the message of the Gospel to orphans worldwide to provide immediate and eternal hope for those who have never heard the good news.
Initiating planning and partnering strategies with orphanages, indigenous bodies of believers, government officials, businesses, schools, and homes, seeking to mentor orphans and equip them with job and life skills.
Developing sustainable relational ministry models that mobilize the indigenous international church to care for the orphaned and impoverished with viable long-term solutions.
Facilitating short-term trips, multiple times a year, to expose churches, students, and business leaders to the plight of orphans, and to build relationships and trust within the international communities to begin affecting change and community transformation.
